Summary

Born in Warsaw， Poland， on November 7， 1867， Marie Curie was forbidden to attend the male-only University of Warsaw， so she enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris to study physics and mathematics。 There she met a professor named Pierre Curie， and the two soon married， forming one of the most famous scientific partnerships in history。 Together they discovered two elements and won a Nobel Prize in 1903。 （Later Marie won another Nobel award for chemistry in 1911。） She died in Savoy， France， on July 4， 1934， a victim of many years of exposure to toxic radiation。

Another fascinating book in the series。 It amazes me how many heroes of the past achieved greatness only by hard work and never quitting， despite challenging social norms and naysayers。 Bravo to all of them and a great encouragement to use your God given talents no matter where they lead。

As someone who is fascinated by science， this book was really interesting to read。 It includes digestible facts about science and what Marie Curie was studying。 It goes over her life in detail and shows how great of a scientist Marie Curie was despite being undermined by her male contemporaries。

Very simple biography on Marie Curie。 I just reviewed a more in-depth biography about this woman。 I would say that this one would be good for grades 2-3 and the other one would do well for a bit older group， say 9-12。 Both books covered similar topics， however， this was a little more simplified in sentence structure。 It did have 2 conflicting areas of her life where the writers had different sides on a matter; one being her supposed affair， and the other was about her earlier jobs and childhood。 Very simple biography on Marie Curie。 I just reviewed a more in-depth biography about this woman。 I would say that this one would be good for grades 2-3 and the other one would do well for a bit older group， say 9-12。 Both books covered similar topics， however， this was a little more simplified in sentence structure。 It did have 2 conflicting areas of her life where the writers had different sides on a matter; one being her supposed affair， and the other was about her earlier jobs and childhood。 Again， we love these as great beginner biographies that bring us deeper questions and research topics。 。。。more

This was an interesting book about Marie Curie and her life。 She was born in Warsaw but was not allowed to speak Polish in public when she was little。 She became the first woman to graduate with a degree in science as well as many other feats during her life。
